Important Questions Answered

Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.

Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: How will I know if my vomiting is morning sickness or the flu?
A: If it's the flu, you'll get better.

Q: What is the most common pregnancy craving?
A: For men to be the ones who get pregnant.

Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.

Q: The more pregnant I get, the more often strangers smile at me. Why?
A: 'Cause you're fatter than they are.

A: So what's your question?

Q: What's the difference between a nine-month pregnant woman and a model?
A: Nothing (if the pregnant woman's husband knows what's good for him).

Q: How long is the average woman in labor?
A: Whatever she says divided by two.

Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.

A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.

A: When the kids are in college

My Husband (also Baby's Daddy)

Anyway, my husband is a spread sheet bending-report ripping-pell grant trackin' -faster than a melting hard drive- computer data-problem fixin' maniac at Abilene Christian University...

He also is really good to his "Lois".

His personal Kryptonite is any sort of mall or shopping...

Thanks for the "Encouragement..."

These are a few of the actual phrases that have so "encouraged"me lately. As you might have guessed, I am in full bloom and others find the "nicest" ways of pointing that out...

  • Nurse: "My G-d, are you sure there is only one in there?"
  • Real Estate Agent: "Oh my, Lacy, (she never remembers my name) what are you going to do, POP?!"
  • Family Member "Yep, she's getting to be a big ol' girl."
  • Gas Station Owner; "You sure are jolly!"
  • My Cousin: "Even your butt is big!"
  • Co-worker: "Are you sure you should be wearing horizontal stripes?"

Thank you for making sure that I remember that I have left the human race and become a full fledged bovine! I almost forgot, I mean I only have a closet full of extra large maternity clothes, two full length mirrors, and a double chin to remind me...Whew, what would I do without you?!

Water Aerobics

I recently joined a water aerobics class at the YMCA in Abilene. (One of the better decisions that I have made since I became pregnant.) I go to a class called Fit Moms where about 8 to 9 other expecting moms and I bob up and down for an hour. I was sore the first time but it has greatly improved my overall feeling and my swollen ankles are almost regular size. I wish I had started about 6 months ago. The other Moms are at different stages in pregnancy but I am third furthest along. We work out pretty hard but not hard enough to prevent a good deal of baby chat.

Again, highly recommended for any "to Be" moms out there.

Meet the Cousins

Our boy has 6 first-cousins to play with (or be baby sat by) and all are from the Latham branch of the tree. Kevin and Barb have four kids: Brianna, Keely, Madison and Brock. Brock has had a battle with cancer for the past three years but is holding on strong and will be up and at'em soon. To find out more about Brockeroo, check out he links on the right. The other two brothers belong to Dow and Karen Latham from Missouri, Collin is 12 and little Cooper will be 1 year old in August.

The Longan branch is lagging sadly behind in the baby department mostly because they are all single (this is good). But they have managed to collect a bunch of dogs. I am sure there will be a posting on the dogs yet to come.

By the way, Boodan needs a good home. He looks kind of like a hippo and is very dumb-but loveable.

And let us not forget the Latham dogs too, Bogie and Molly. And Valene has various kittens now and then which disappear and are replaced like rolls of toilet paper.

The Cast of Longans

Just for the fun of it, I thought I would introduce Baby Latham's family tree.

Here is a picture collage of one branch- The Longans. Will is my little brother, Andrea and Kandis are my Austinian sisters. Carebear and Chief are my parents Bill and Karen Longan. The cute guy with the beard is my husband. And of course, I am me...
There are 6 grand-dogs not pictured.

I hope to include Crawford and Latham branches soon...

The Longan Clan in Austin for Kandis' Wrist Surgery

This past weekend the Longan clan went to Austin so that little sister Kandis could get her crooked arm fixed. She broke her wrist doing some crazy snowboarding move this past February in Colorado.

So she had to have a bone graft from her hip and several screws put in to make it right again. She has been in a bit of pain since Thursday so keep her in your prayers. The photos are of the Longan clan sans parents pre-surgery. And the other pic is Kandis getting her kicks while waiting to be carted off.

We had a really great time in Austin, but that was because we had the chance to be together as a family...

New page...different idea
