On Being a Mom...

I have been a real momma for 5 weeks and I am still trying to wrap my brain around it.

After years of habitual me-centeredness and people-pleasing, it's hard to let my self believe that spending time with Ky is most important... even more important than a spotless house.

I like being a mom, eventhough I don't really know if I am doing anything "right"

I like being a mom, because it changed my whole brain when Ky was born. The world seems way different... and it is worth being tired and having stretch marks.

I like being a mom because I am beginning to understand my mom a little better now...

I like being a mom because I won't feel dumb about renting all those cool animated movies that I have missed over the last few years.

I like being a mom because I will get to discover the whole world all over again... the taste of ice cream... the smell of coffee... the sensation of riding a merry-go-round... Christmas.... through little Ky's eyes.

I like being a mom because my Mom is has more interest in the "goings on" here in BG than before.

I like being a mom, because of the way he already has begun to look at me...

One Month Old!

Here we are at my due date and celebrating his one month birthday! I am so glad that I had a short cut!
Carebear and Chief came over on Sunday to sort of celebrate, but Kyson was real sleepy the whole time... but, he had his picture taken again nevertheless...

It was MY due date but my friend Karen took it instead. She had her baby girl, Bella Kay (7 lbs 13 oz), also at 36 weeks, also at the same hospital, and also after about 5 hours of labor (Karen and I used to share the same office).

HOWEVER, Karen had an epidural... and she said it was heavenly...

Here is a pic of Ky-bubby with his dad. Both birthday boys and both enjoying one of Daddy's birthday gifts- another book!

Almost Due!

Carebear and Ky-bear

Well, my due date is Sunday and it will instead be Kyson's 4 week birthday. I am really glad I was able to skip the last month...

Now, not only are we moving on to bigger diapers but life is moving on as well.

One interesting possible development: My sister Kandis and brother Will might move to Buffalo Gap to go into radiology and nursing... We would love to have more family closer. Especially for babysitting!

Also, Carebear is busy working on my hometown's centennial celebration. The biggest part is a huge musical she is writing and rehearsing. All while making multiple trips to Abilene to see her only grandchild. Oh, also she and my dad are also remodeling her house, fixing up a bed and breakfast, leading Keep Munday Beautiful, and installing new streetlights throughout town. They are super busy but I am afraid that is about to change as they begin so spend more time with Kyson.

Wes turns 31 on Tuesday so we will be celebrating him somehow...

Generally, life is moving on pretty quickly around us and it's hard to believe that Ky is a month old.

Kyson's New Toy

Kyson has a new toy. It's one of those tummy time mats with lights, music, textures and toys. He likes to just lay there under the bright colors. He seems to love just staring up at the animal while he listens to the music and sucks his binky. It has a mirror and it plays both Mozart and nursery rhymes... Super cool, huh? I thought he was too young to get into this sort of thing yet...

Family Photo Shoot

This past Thursday our friend Karen came over for a little family shoot. She is also expecting and currently on bed rest. Her daughter Bella Kay is trying to make an early entrance as well. Karen is in week 35 so keep her in your prayers.

Two weeks old already...

Thursday's check-up revealed that Ky is gaining weight quickly. Now he is over 6.2 lbs and already out growing a couple of his preemie outfits. He spent mother's day with his Mamaw Valene for part of the day and then went to Munday where he saw Carebear, Mamaw Crawford, Aunt Violet, Will, Papaw, and of course Chief... He also got to see Jason, Sudy, Howry, and Uncle Gary.

It was a big day for Ky Bear. At the end of the day he had his two-week birthday photo shoot with Carebear's new camera... Check him out!

Ky-Bear in his cuteness...

After a sleepy photo shoot with Carebear and Chief, we discovered this hand-me-down navy cap with ears...

It worked like Frosty's top hat, little Kyson perked up and showed us a little more personality...

It was really funny...

Also, Kyson has a new trick... now I am no expert, but how many 9 day old babies can spit out their oen pacifier and put it back in...three times in a row!
